Showing Up and Staying Motivated

Happy Monday, lovelies!

A little update on me: I’ve been keeping busy with commissions and private events, and I am so grateful to have a sanctuary where I can work/play and be inspired–it’s my little oasis away from all the chaos going on in the world! For those of you that don’t have an art gallery/creative space…How have you been showing up for yourself? ⁠

In these crazy times, it can be a task just to get out of bed and out of the PJs–believe me, I feel you! Without consistency in our routines, it can be hard to maintain feelings of normalcy between work, home life, family, and all the rest, which is why it’s so important to remember that you have to make YOU a priority, too! Sometimes a Wednesday can feel like a Saturday and vice versa, and it leaves us feeling lost and overwhelmed, rendering us almost paralyzed from taking care of ourselves.

When self-doubt and anxiety kick in, take a moment to pause and gather yourself. For me, I try to remind myself of all the things I have to be grateful for–a roof over my head, a beautiful healthy family, *relatively* steady work… this reminds me that even when things seem difficult, I know I have the strength to keep going. While we’re all likely struggling a little bit these days, pat yourself on the back for what you’ve been able to provide for yourself!

I know, I know, getting into the glass-half-full mindset is a lot easier said than done, but it beats being stuck in a cycle of complaining and wishing and sulking. If your long-term goals seem unachievable, revise them, don’t beat yourself up! We are all works in progress, so remember to work with love and patience. ⁠

It’s okay to be selfish at times–I know that word has negative connotations, but hear me out: if you’re not taking care of you, how can you take care of others and accomplish your goals/plans/tasks?  Schedule time for yourself like you would a meeting. Spend some one-on-one time with YOU. Give yourself permission to indulge in what makes you happy. It’s not selfish, it’s self-care! Have a solo dance party. Workout (or skip it and have a nap). Plant a garden. Take a bubble bath. Try a new recipe. Visit my gallery (hehe)! Rediscover those little pleasures. Create, make, learn, move, grow, smile, love, live!
